Food

One of the best parts of parenting in my opinion! (really? yep!) There is nothing better than watching your 6 month old suck a lemon for the first time! Is it messy? Yes. But embrace the mess! And make sure you have a cloth on hand.

The advice now is to wait until 6 months before weaning and the jury is out on the phrase "food before one is just for fun". Some say it is important they eat more and more as the months go on, but this leads to parents worrying if their babies aren't eating enough because they do eat very little. On the other hand, the phrase downplays the role food does have. It is important to let them explore various different foods in a safe way. So, in my opinion, it's abit of both. Milk (be it breast or bottle) plays a very important role still but food is important too. At 6 months, let them explore, try out different textures and tastes. Below I have linked to some useful ideas for introducing first foods. As the months go on, introduce more meals more often in the day. But at the end of the day, you know what is right for your own baby so adapt accordingly.
