Make your own Halloween paper bunting with the kids and make staying at home more creative and FUN! They’re surprisingly simple and all you’ll need is some coloured paper, a pair of scissors and some tape! Fold the paper, cut out your favourite shapes (see template cutout) – choose from a (not so spooky) spider, bat, pumpkin, ghost or a witches hat, then watch the magic as you open them back up again to see your bunting of amazing connected shapes.
This is a super cheap, quick and simple kids activities which your little one and they will surely get involved in decorating these too. I love a good DIY that’s quick to make and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! Why not even add some glitter or sequins for that added sparkle to your halloween decor too?
You can use our free printable template to make your shapes OR you can draw them freehand. I find it easiest if you cut the shapes onto a thick piece of paper or cardboard as you’ll be using these over and over again to trace. Just remember you only need to draw half of each shape. When you trace it onto your paper, you’ll end up with the mirror-image once you unfold it.
Here’s a list of what you’ll need.
• Coloured A4 sheets of Paper
• Scissors
• Cellotape
• Free printable template cutouts (sized for 12 inch strips of paper, folded as shown below – see instructions 1-4 on the illustration. You will get 4 strips from an A4 sheet)
Follow these simple instructions and hey presto, halloween decorations are sorted! You can make these as long as you want, all you have to do is repeat the process again and cellophane the two pieces together.
The ghosts were the only ones where I used a slightly wider 4.5 inch by 12 inch strip of paper. After they were cut out, we drew two eyes and a mouth onto each one to make them even more ghost-like. These turn out REALLY WELL and my little girl just loves attempting to decorate these.
